On Feeling Behind in Life
There is a quiet panic that settles in when you look around and feel like everyone else is ahead of you.
They have the job.
The house.
The relationship.
The clarity.
And you are standing in the middle of your own unfinished story wondering why your chapter looks different.
Here is something I want you to understand gently but firmly:
Life is not a race. It is a cultivation.
Some people bloom early.
Some people root deep before they rise.
You do not see what is happening underground.
We live in a world that rewards visibility. Promotions posted. Engagements announced. Milestones celebrated publicly.
But growth is often private.
Sometimes the most important seasons look like:
• rebuilding your confidence
• starting over financially
• leaving what broke you
• learning discipline
• healing from something no one else saw
That does not mean you are behind. It means you are becoming.
Comparison steals peace faster than failure ever could.
If you feel behind right now, ask yourself this instead:
What am I building that will last?
Character lasts.
Faith lasts.
Resilience lasts.
Skill lasts.
Quick success without foundation collapses.
Slow growth with roots survives storms.
If you are in a season where nothing looks impressive, take heart. Fields look empty before harvest. That does not mean they are barren.
Keep showing up.
Keep planting.
Keep learning.
Keep trying again.
You are not late.
You are in preparation.
And preparation is holy work.
Until next week,
— Dominique
